Clubs voted in favour of Narrandera Sportsground as the venue for the Riverina League grand final, at a league meeting on Monday night.

The only real discussion point was whether to keep it on a Saturday, or move back to the traditional Sunday timeslot.

Former Riverina League president Chris Flanigan suggested the Saturday grand final be reviewed after only a small crowd turned out to watch Wagga Tigers defeat Griffith to win the 2019 premiership.

AFL Riverina football operations manager Tom Walker said the Saturday grand final was clearly favoured by clubs.

"Based on the small crowd we had in 2019, there was a discussion between the CMC and clubs and the clubs were comfortable to stick with the Saturday for this year's grand final," Walker saiid.

"It was pretty unanimous."

The grand final, to be played on Saturday September 18, will clash with the Hume League grand final and the Ag races at Murrumbidgee Turf Club.

Both events traditonally attract bigger crowds than the Riverina League grand final. But had they opted for Sunday, it would have gone head to head with the Group Nine grand final and Ovens and Murray League decider.

Walker said the clashes were not a big factor in the decision making process.

"The clubs know there are clashes but they were still comfortable to stick with the Saturday," he said.

Narrandera Sportsground will host four of the six Riverina League finals. The other two, the preliminary and elimination finals, will be held at Robertson Oval.

The entire Farrer League finals series will be played in Wagga.

The qualifying, second semi, preliminary and grand finals will be held at Robertson Oval. The elimination and first semi finals will be played at either Gumly or McPherson Ovals, pending the first grade teams involved.
