A man has been charged over an alleged home invasion in Ashmont in April.

The arrest comes after a 46-year-old woman and 68-year-old man were allegedly assaulted by three unknown people at 6:30am on Sunday.
Police were told the incident unfolded after the woman walked outside her unit on Kokoda Street in Ashmont to investigate a noise. The woman was allegedly subsequently attacked by three people who forced her back inside and smashed the front window of the property.
The 86-year-old man who was the second occupant of the home was allegedly assaulted with a shovel and stabbed after the alleged assailants demanded money from him.
It's alleged the woman was then assaulted and had her personal belongings stolen.
The man will face court tomorrow charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence - armed.
In April 2021, detectives from Riverina Police District established Strike Force Xamab to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal for information, a 22-year-old man was arrested on Baylis Street at about 12pm today and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged.
He was refused bail and will appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow.
