Police allege that the 44-year-old man, who was arrested and charged at Wagga Police Station on Thursday, bought the girl gifts and sexually touched her on several occasions over a period of more than two years.
The alleged incidents are said to have taken place between January 2019 and February this year, when the girl was aged between nine and 11.
The man has been charged with two counts of intentionally sexually touching a child under 10 years, four counts of intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16 years, and with grooming a child under 14 for unlawful sexual activity.
The man appeared at Wagga Local Court on Thursday and was granted bail to reappear at the same court on August 3.
The arrest comes after investigations into the reports by the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.
The special unit is comprised of detectives specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
