Set in the 1930's and 40's, the show will follow the life of American jazz musician Cole Porter, exploring his relationship with wife Linda Thomas and his flamboyant off stage behaviour.

Fay Walters will be directing Red Hot and Cole, which has a cast of nine. She said she hopes to take audiences back in time.

"The 30's and 40's theme is the glamour of the event, costume and theme. It will start in the foyer, where there is a cloak room where you deposit your furs and pick up your tickets," Mrs Walters said.

"Then a gentleman in tails and white gloves will take you to your seat. It is all the elegance of the era that we want to recreate, so that you step out of whatever is outside your door in regards to the COVID menace, into some fairytale land."

Stephen Roots will be taking on the role of Cole Porter, with Susan Pottie portraying Linda Thomas.

Other cast members include Erin Brown, Leigh Ladd, Lynden Clark, Morag Hamilton, Tracey Lonergan, Bob Hitchens, Chris Kanck, Fi Ziff and Antonella Salvestro.

Mrs Walters said the show is a little different from your usual stage performance.

"The stage manager [Salvestro] and the photographer Fi Ziff are part of the cast. They're always visible and always dressed in costumes," she said.

"So put on expensive clothes, your furs and a mask. Dress your husband in a dinner suit and 'come on down, because we're throwing a ball tonight'."

You can catch Red Hot and Cole at 6.45pm on July 16, 17, 23 and 24, with matinee performances also on Sunday July 18 and 25 at 12.45pm.
