Grintell was one of five Giants Academy players invited to make the move to Queensland with the club on Thursday, as the club made the dash north alongside Sydney Swans.
The Giants had been based in Melbourne for the past three weeks but were advised to head to Queensland due to the developing COVID-19 situation in both Victoria and NSW.
The AFL game between the Giants and Swans, scheduled for Ballarat on Saturday, will be moved to an alternative venue.
The Giants included Giants Academy members Grintell, Sam Frost, Josh Green, Fraser Kelly and Max Monaghan in their travelling party to Queensland to be part of their VFL squad.
All five have filled in for the Giants' VFL team this season and played in their most recent win over Gold Coast Suns in Melbourne last Saturday.
Grintell, who is an apprentice to his father Jamie in Narrandera, has no idea how long he will be in Queensland for but was happy to make the move in a bid to boost his AFL prospects.
"He's having the time of his life," Jamie said of Harry on Thursday.
"He's seeing what it's all about."
Grintell was asked to join the Giants' VFL squad in Melbourne earlier this week, and then followed them to Queensland.
The VFL season has six more rounds until finals, with the Giants currently eighth in the 22-team competition.

The Giants have the bye in the VFL this weekend but are expected to play a form of scratch match against the Swans, so both club's players who miss out on AFL selection can get a game in.
Grintell had nine disposals and three inside 50s in the Giants' 40-point win over the Suns last weekend, a performance that earned high praise from GWS' VFL coach Luke Kelly.
"Harry's pressure was outstanding throughout the day," Kelly told the Giants website.
"His pressure and ability to chase was vital. He really helped us in the front half, a really good small forward performance."
Grintell also earned Allies selection for the under 19 national championships, to be played later in the year.
