THE "biggest-ever family spectacular in Wagga" lived up to the hype when thousands of people turned up to get among the monster truck madness at the Wagga Showground on Saturday night. The Monsters Tour of Destruction attracted a sea of people who transformed the showground into a vision of deck chairs. It was one spectacle after another when action enthusiasts were treated to motorbike stunts, a jet fan, a wall of fire and the main attraction everyone had come out to see - six monster trucks. The night of carnage and destruction was part of an international competition where Australia takes on the United States. Some of the more eager attendees spent the night spectating from the edge of the track where they could get as close to the action as possible, while others opted to watch the show from the stadium seats where the full impact of the trucks in action could be seen.Audiences witnessed not one but two crane drops, when a Ford and a Holden were dropped from great heights to see which vehicle would be destroyed the most.A clear crowd favourite were the Scooby Doo and Taz monster trucks which performed massive leaps and aerial acrobatics for delighted spectators. The action-packed family night out came to an end with an impressive $50,000 fireworks display that had all eyes focused on the heavens.
