In a quirk of the draw, the two arch rivals will face off again at Laurie Daley Oval on Sunday.
Coming off the bye, the Tigers haven't played since the 20-10 loss to the Blues at Anzac Park on June 26
This time around the Maher Cup won't be at stake but Gundagai are looking for the same swift turnaround that saw them become the first team through to the grand final last year.
Last season the two teams played off to determine the minor premiership at Anzac Park, which the Blues won, before the Tigers turned the cards the following week.
Gundagai might be a long way off that incarnation but co-coach Luke Berkrey is confident they are heading in the right direction.
"It is something a little bit different but being able to get two cracks at Tumut within the space of two weeks is something we're looking forward to," Berkrey said.
"They are obviously going pretty well but it was nice to see them play on a really heavy track on the weekend.
"I think we've taken steps as the season has gone on and certainly have a fair few more steps left to take in us.
"I feel like we're slowly building without moving too fast."

Aisea Taholo will return to their line up at lock, a move that will see Berkrey shift back into the front row.
Royce Tout will also line up after the Sydney based forward decided to remain in Gundagai due to the escalating coronavirus situation.
"We were pretty lucky and as soon as it started to happen Touty moved home," Berkrey said. "He's been at home for a while - since before the Tumut game - and he will just stay in Gundagai
"He is very lucky with his job that he can work from home ."
Gundagai couldn't live up to the big occasion when the teams last met, or in the round one blockbuster at Twickenham.
However Berkrey doesn't believe playing at a neutral venue in the middle of the season will have any impact on the fierce rivalry between the two sides.
"As soon as we kick off that fierce rivalry is going to be there," he said.
"Both teams still want to beat each other just as bad.
"Maybe there mightn't be the same atmosphere around the ground but certainly within the sidelines and the trylines it will be exactly the same."
