A convenience store, bottle shop and dog wash are three new businesses earmarked for the Boorooma Shopping Centre, which is currently under construction.
A development application was lodged with Wagga City Council in June, revealing a few more details about the long-awaited project.
Key among them was the inclusion of a dog wash and bottle shop, which will be open throughout the week near the incoming petrol station.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The bottle shop will be small in size, about 75 square metres, and will be open from 9am to 9pm.
The dog wash, meanwhile, will open from 6am to 10pm and will be open seven days per week.
Estella Progress Association president Bruce Durham said it was an immense relief to finally see some action out at Boorooma after many years of few, if any, services.
Mr Durham said he had lived in the area for seven years, ferrying back and forth from Wagga's CBD whenever he wanted to get a hold of basic necessities.
"That'll be great. It'll at least get something up and started, because the [Estella] development looks like it might be quite a long way away, it's not progressing like the one at Boorooma," Mr Durham said.
"I take a drive down there quite often and see all the retaining walls going up and the new structures, so you can make out what it's going to be like now."
Fitzpatricks Real Estate's Greg Howick said the finer details were being hashed out for the remaining retail shops, but they had a few vendors locked in.
"They've got a coffee shop and a small convenience outlet going in," Mr Howick said.
The development is being run by the Dunn Group, which is planning to build a BP service station and Balmain Coffee Company cafe at the site.
Once fully built, the complex will also include a supermarket, eight specialty shops, a cafe, restaurant and spaces for parking.
It remains to be seen exactly which speciality stores will set up within the complex, however the developers say they have received several competing offers.
The shops will be part of a larger shopping precinct on the corner of Messenger Avenue and Phar Lap Place.
It will be the first major retail space for the rapidly growing suburb of Boorooma, which has seen unprecedented building activity over the last couple of years.
Construction began on the site earlier this year, and building works are tentatively scheduled to finish by the end of 2021.
A concurrent development is currently in the works for an Estella Shopping Centre, which has locked in FoodWorks and Mock Orange as tenants.
