An element of doubt was cost over sporting competitions on Saturday when the NSW Government brought statewide restrictions back with little notice.

It caused one sporting organisation, Group 20 Rugby League, to call off their fixtures on Sunday, while the remainder pushed on under strict guidelines.

Masks were mandatory for spectators but overall, most were happy to push ahead despite some minor adjustments to routine.

"You look around here and everyone's got masks on. Even at its worst last year we never saw cases in the area," Turvey Park coach Mick Mazzocchi said after the Bulldogs' upset win over Coolamon on Sunday.

"I'm sure we'll do the right thing. We're lucky we're all in this pocket. I'm hoping as long as they keep it in Sydney, we can just keep rolling."

Group Nine board member Nick Hall, also the coach of Young, expects the competition to push ahead next weekend under the same protocols used on Sunday.

"Everyone was good with their masks, everyone had them so it was all good," Hall said.
