FOUR people have been seriously injured fighting two fires in the Riverina.A man aged in his 60s reportedly fell into a fire near Walla yesterday afternoon and sustained severe burns to 36 per cent of his body.It is believed the man was part of a Rural Fire Service (RFS) crew that was attempting to contain the fire before it spread further from the Walla rubbish tip when the accident happened. He was rushed to Albury Base Hospital about 3.30pm were he was treated for his injuries, the man's arms and legs sustaining the worst damage.Three men have also been injured while fighting a fire outside of Tooma, near Tumbarumba. The fire began about 12.30pm yesterday and the three men were attempting to halt the fire's progress before flames reached properties, including the Tooma Hotel. The three men are believed to have suffered burns as well as smoke inhalation. At this stage it is unclear how the three men were injured or if they were part of RFS brigades called in to fight the fire. Two of the men were flown to Canberra Hospital by South Care helicopter while the third man was transported via ambulance. All three were reported to be in a stable condition.
