A LACK of physical evidence is hindering progress for police investigating a number of suspicious fires which threatened properties in the Cootamundra region late last year.Despite being established by police in late October last year, Strike Force Henderson is yet to net the individual or individuals believed responsible for up to 14 devastating fires due to little evidence being left behind in the bushfires.Cootamundra acting duty officer Inspector David Cockram said bushfires were typically very difficult to investigate, however police were very pleased with the response from the public in relation to a large blaze which threatened the small township of Wallendbeen.“Police have spoken to a number of property owners and have received a large amount of detailed information,” he said.“Anyone with any further information is urged to contact the Cootamundra detectives.”Meanwhile, Temora police are also investigating two suspicious grass fires which broke out east of the town on December 23.Forensic officers from Wagga attended the scenes, six and eight kilometres from Temora, and conducted a number of examinations.Investigations into both of the blazes are continuing.
