The Kangaroos came with intent and kept Saints accountable, opening with the first two goals of the game, and trailing by just nine points at half-time.

But the defending premiers upped their intensity in a blistering third term to get back on track for a 15.15 (105) to 7.8 (50) victory.

"We were pretty fumbly and our decision-making wasn't quite there," North Wagga coach Cayden Winter said after their first game in three weeks.

"To Temora's credit, they were probably a bit hungrier than us and their pressure was better than ours (early).

"Once we got our game going in the second half we ended up playing really well and finishing off the game strong which was pleasing."

The strong finish was just what they needed to show, heading into a big local derby against East Wagga-Kooringal next weekend.

Corey Watt was superb through the middle when North Wagga needed someone to step up and shine in the second half.

"His attack on the footy was second to none and that's what we were lacking. He ramped up the attack on the footy and put his head over it," Winter said.

The coach also had a big game.

Daniel Jordan finished with four goals for the Saints while Temora coach Jake Wooden kicked three of his side's seven. William Hughes and Liam Sinclair stuck at the task all day for the Kangaroos.
