TWO ambulances were put out of service yesterday by cowardly vandals. The unknown vandals smashed the side mirrors off the two vehicles while they were parked outside a Glenfield property where an on-call paramedic was sleeping.Wanton damage meant that the ambulances had to be taken off the road while being repaired, leaving the city with only three available ambulances.Ambulance officers were yesterday disgusted by the attack. "The whole office is disappointed that two of our vehicles are now off the road because some idiot has decided it would be a good idea to smash the mirrors," station officer David Cotsios said."We still have adequate vehicles to cover the region but having our entire complement is vital in major emergencies."On-call paramedics take the ambulances home to ensure they can attend emergencies at any time as quickly as possible without having to first go to the station. The two damaged ambulances were yesterday repaired and will be back in service today.
