On the back of the hugely successful 'Big Freeze at the G', Northern Jets will be hosting their own MND fundraiser at Ariah Park on Saturday as the community rallies around one of their own.
Former Ariah Mark-Mirrool coach Ian 'Crack' Gordon has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease and the Jets want to show their support.
"Absolutely, Crack was a good footballer and would have played 400 club games. His wife Shaz has been on the ladies auxiliary and they are just good club people and really good community people," Jets' official Terry Walker said.
"They are always the first people to help anyone else and the community just wanted to show support back to them. They're going to need financial support so it went from there and we decided to work in with the MND round and connect with that.
"It wasn't about raising money to start with. It's going to be a pretty emotional day for them."
Walker, Chris Daniher, Jamie Gordon, Mick Walker, John Carroll, Phil Fritsch and Rhonda Johnstone will all be going down the slide into a bucket of freezing water at half-time in Saturday's first grade game between the Jets and Marrar.
There will also be an auction after the game with many agricultural and football items up for grabs.
Not only will Chris Daniher be in attendance, but elder brother Terry is also a chance of attending if restrictions in Melbourne are eased before the weekend.
Both the Jets and Marrar will also wear MND socks on the day.
"Marrar have been wonderful with their support. If we were going to do it with any club, Marrar would be the one, they've been great," Walker said.
A full list of auction items are available on the Jets' Facebook Page.
Donations can be made to APMFC - MND; BSB - 032 763; ACC - 127 380; where donators are asked to put your name and sponsored name as the reference.
