Fire and Rescue NSW Captain Ryan Terry said they were called to a house on Wombat Street at 5.50pm on Monday.
"Upon arrival, there was smoke from the roof and eaves, so crews got to work to gain entry to the house and extinguished the fire in the lounge room," he said.
"The fire was contained to the room of origin, and no one was home at the time however, there is extensive smoke and water damager to the premises.
"That one is now in the hands of NSW police."
IN OTHER NEWS:
"When we arrived, an elderly lady was removed from the house with smoke inhalation," he said.
"She was transported to Young hospital for observation, and crews were on scene to ventilate the house, which was handed back to the owner after 8pm.
"There was some minor damage."
Captain Terry said it's a timely reminder to ensure that smoke alarms are working, flammable items are kept away from heaters, and power boards are not overloaded.
