Monique Turner was sitting at home on Friday night when she heard a loud bang from the front.
"It was about 9.30pm when the first firecracker went off in my mailbox," she said.
"We heard the clang, and all of the neighbours came out to check what it was. I put it up on the Forest Hill Neighbourhood Watch, just in case people needed to know.
"I wasn't that worried as I thought it was just kids being silly, so I didn't ring the police."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Ms Turner said the noise was terrifying when it hit.
"Yes, it was scary, but the scariest thing for me was I had just put the blind down," she said.
"By the time I sat down, the firecracker went off. It was not long between me standing there and it smashing the window."
Ms Turner said she has rented in Forest Hill for just over a year, and had minimal issues. She said sometimes they have young people running around and a light bar stolen from her partner's ute.
"But, it's not been anything this scary," Ms Turner said. "It's not been anything where I feel unsafe just sitting in my own house."
Ms Turner said police came straight away and drove around the neighbourhood to see if they could spot any suspects.
She said the community around here has been incredible, with manyneighbours coming to check upon them.
"Everyone locked up their gates afterwards," Ms Turner said. "I think it's made everyone feel a little unsafe."
Ms Turner said it's not fair that people think it's OK to do this sort of thing to others.
"I am lucky we rent this house," she said. "I personally don't have to pay for it. It would be over $1500 to cover what happened.
"The callout for a Saturday morning would be $200 alone. The damage has been fixed, and our real estate has been so good about it."
Riverina police crime manager Adrian Telfer said officers are investigating the incident.
"A reminder to the public that it is an offence to be in possession of fireworks and it is an offence to cause damage to property," he said.
"We are investigating that matter and leading into the long weekend, we are reminding the public to not be in possession of fireworks."
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Wagga Police on 6922 2599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
