The house, unoccupied at the time, was fully engulfed in flames when the Rural Fire Service was called just after 9am.
Firefighters had to confront dangers such as a fallen power line and asbestos.
RFS Bland Temora Zone District Officer David Robinson said four appliances and 10 firefighters responded and Fire and Rescue NSW was called in to assist with the asbestos.
"Our crews responded very quickly and they did a great job and worked very well with Fire and Rescue," he said.
"I'd remind everybody to have their smoke alarm operable and clean their dryer lint filters with winter coming on."
FRNSW Station 546 Temora Deputy Captain Grant Reid said firefighters worked to stop the fire spreading to water tanks on the site.
