Ashmont residents received a rude awakening on Saturday morning when a car was set alight in a residents' backyard, right next to a hills hoist.

Turvey Park Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the suburb at 4.33am by startled residents, who reported hearing sounds of explosions in the neighbourhood.
One nearby resident snapped a photo of the car right as it was being engulfed in flames.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The Turvey Park firefighting crew arrived on the scene at around 4.38am and saw a red Triton Dual Cab fully ablaze mere metres away from a resident's house.
With their combined efforts the firefighters managed to extinguish the flame and prevent further spreading.
Wagga police were contacted for comment, and The Daily Advertiser understands that they are currently investigating the fire.
