It comes after revelations last week that the mass vaccination hub at Glenrock Country Practice is administering only 40 shots a day, despite having capacity for up to 140.
Councillor Conkey said he was lending his voice to the vaccination appeal after it came to his attention that the city had become complacent in recent months.
"It will take years for COVID-19 to be eliminated from around the world and until that happens the death rate will remain high," Cr Conkey said.
"Wagga has been extremely fortunate with no major outbreaks. However, that could change rapidly."

Both the mayor and his wife, Jenny, have so far rolled up their sleeves to receive the vaccine.
"It was a seamless process. I went online at 3pm one afternoon and was able to organise an appointment within an hour," he said.
"The jab itself only takes a few seconds. The paperwork takes a little longer."
The only side-effect Cr Conkey experienced was a slightly sore arm. But, he said, he was aware that others had experienced minor aches and pains.
"I would urge eligible people to contact their medical practice to organise to have the vaccine," he said.
Under the MLHD's rollout to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and household members of healthcare workers, there have now been 4500 vaccinations.
This week it was confirmed that the Murrumbidgee Local Health District will now be offering the Pfizer vaccine at the hubs in Wagga and Griffith to people aged between 40 and 49. Eligible residents can book a vaccination online via the nsw.gov.au website. COVID-19 coordinator Emma Field said the hubs will be prepared to take on an influx of people seeking the vaccination.
"Pfizer is the preferred COVID-19 vaccination for adults under the age of 50 years, and over the age of 50 AstraZeneca is the preferred vaccine," said Ms Field.
Members of the public over the age of 50 can continue to be vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine, through many GP practices.
The public is remind to maintain social distancing, good hand hygiene and to stay home when unwell.
