The Light Rigid Rescue Vehicle was handed over by Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott on Thursday, who said the boost would "save lives".
"This is a great day of celebration for the VRA here in Wagga, especially after many, many years of service to the community," he said.
"It means a safer community for the people of Wagga."
IN OTHER NEWS:
As crew members tested out the new gear, from hydraulic cutters to a new two-way radio system, VRA Commissioner Mark Gibson said the handover would improve their capabilities across the board.
"The truck and gear is valued at $220,000, and it's all fully equipped, ready to turn the key and go," he said.
"The other benefit is that because we're supplying this equipment to the Wagga unit, it means they don't have to source funds themselves from the Wagga community.
