A rare Sunday game meant Wanderers coach Dave Leonard was unable to be in Canberra but he was thrilled for his squad to get the monkey off their back.
"Words can't describe it. The boys have been working so hard at training and just to get something out of it today is just absolutely amazing," Leonard said.
"We know we've been slowly building."
The Wanderers return home next Saturday to host Brindabella Blues.
