Tara McDonough from Canberra took out the most coveted title at the Wagga Gold Cup's Fashion on the Field, wearing a stunning mustard, gigot sleeved velvet dress that was listed on SHEIN for $32.
"It feels amazing [to win]. This is literally the best I have ever felt," she said.
"I got this dress off SHEIN ... it's actually a bargain dress, and I saw it and thought 'I really like it. Hopefully, it arrives, and it's decent quality. I was genuinely really happy with it."
Ms McDonough then paired the outfit with a leopard print milliner's piece her mum found, along with some shoes and jewellery already in her closet.
She said you don't need to spend a fortune to be glamourous.
"Everyone should give Fashions on the Field ago," she said. "It's so much fun."
Eager fashionistas showed off their glamorous - or quirky - outfits in the hopes of winning a prize at this year's Gold Cup. Fashions on the Field is an integral part of the race day with five categories for racegoers to compete in Lady of the Day, Man of the Day, Stylish Couple, Young Contemporary and the Millinery Award.
Fashion trends of the season for women included clashing colours such as cobalt blue and orange.
Erica Davis won in two categories; Young Contemporary and Stylish Couple, along with her good friend Paul Galvin.
Ms Davis wore a beautiful floral brocade dress with accents of pink, orange, blue and white, pairing it with a black hat and belt and some gold earrings to tie the look together.
"We started with my dress, and I bought it two months ago ... then we slowly built Paul's outfit to match my colours," she said.
"We got a tie and a pocket square that arrived in the mail this morning, and the suit was bought last weekend, so it was a last-minute outfit based on what Erica put together," Mr Galvin added.

Ms Davis was also thrilled at receiving her second title for the day, adding that it was overwhelming but incredible.
Kelly Carty was a finalist in the Young Contemporary award, rocking a second-hand dress that wowed the judges with its deep emerald tone and puffed sleeves.
Matching it with bold statement jewellery, Ms Carty said it was always fun to piece together an outfit for the competition.
"It's a lot of fun and a great way to enjoy the day; it's so amazing to be back at the races after last year," she said.
Len Parish was named the Best Dressed Gentlemen dressed in a blue suit accented with a blush pink tie, red pocket square and blue hat.
"I like being here with my daughter and wife, and they go all out for Fashions," he said. "It was a shock to win, but it was great."
Karyn Johnson from Leeton won the Millinery Award after working with a milliner in Victoria to design her piece to match the dress.
"Originally, I had decided I wanted a plain pillbox, but she sent me through all these different designs to add on, so she changed my mind," she said. "It was amazing to win; there were so many stunning pieces up here today."
