Race 1
The Hayes Dabernig stable can kick the carnival off with a bang here with Mortal Witness. Nephradvia looks unders at her odds-on quote.
Selections: 1-2-4-8
Race 2
The Pfieffer team have a history of training winners at the Wagga carnival. Tears Of Effort looks a nice horse on the up and can win here.
Selections: 2-6-8-11
Race 3
John Thompson has placed Battenburg well here. A group one placegetter going around in a class one & maiden at each-way odds. He's on the comeback from injury and meets some progressive types but looks great value.
Selections: 2-12-11-5
Race 4
The price is gone but Smuggler's Bay looked to trial like a smart one. The Nesbit-Weston team bring the three-year-old to the carnival to debut. Conjola Pheonix also trialled nicely.
Selections: 4-10-1-9
Race 5
Looks a good race for This Skilled Cat, with Wagga apprentice Hannah Williams' four kilo claim coming in handy, along with the inside gate.
Selections: 2-7-8-6
Race 6
This is a real dart board job. Larmour comes here in winning form, loves 2000m and looks over the odds at $19. The two favourites look well-placed but happy to play some value.
Selections: 11-16-10-7
Race 7
We're sticking with Southern Lad after he was a little unlucky when second in the race last year. John O'Shea's confidence was hard to ignore, so that, along with the Masked Crusader form, will do us in the Plate.
Selections: 3-1-2-17
Race 8
Tim Donnelly could already have a winner on the board by this stage but Pontmain is one to watch in the last. What he was able to do in his first two starts was very impressive and trialled well off a long lay-off leading into this.
Selections: 5-6-7-9
