The earthquake recorded a magnitude of 3.2 just after 10am on Tuesday along Alpine Way at Crackenback.
According to reports by those in the area, some said it sounded like a brief explosion, while others said it was noticeable enough to wake them from a nap.

Light shaking was also felt by many in the area at the time, but no major damage has been reported at this stage.
