Other than an earlier than usual frost, everything has gone to plan for MTC track manager Mark Hart leading into this year's carnival.
The master groundsman is happy with the track heading into Wagga Town Plate day.
"Yeah really happy, the grass coverage is nice and thick. We've had a good summer, obviously, and we're right to go," Hart said.
There was around 10 to 20 millimetres of rain forecast for Wagga early in the week but the course only received four.
The lack of rain has not thrown Hart out.
"It hasn't. Traditionally we keep the water off it the last month anyway because once the temperatures get down to 22, it doesn't need a lot of moisture anyway," he said.
"The grass is cut at 120mm plus so that keeps the moisture there anyway."

Hart expects all horses, leaders, backmarkers and everything in between, to get their chance at Wagga.
"Everything is on track for it to play pretty fair," he said.
"I did a penetrometer reading (on Monday) and there's not much difference to on the fence as there is a little bit wider. I think it will play pretty even right across the track. Obviously we've been getting a few frosts so that will even it up a bit anyway.
"I think it will play pretty fair."
Some clubs and carnivals have struggled with their track on the second day. Hart will not add any irrigation on the Thursday night.
"All we'll do is go out and have a quick scoot around the track and fill whatever holes we've got to fill," he said.
"Traditionally in the last four or five years, we've got through not too bad, we haven't had to put a lot of fill in the track and hopefully going in with a good four track they won't mark it up too much anyway.
"There's enough moisture in the track there that I don't have to irrigate."
