Twelves months after the general public were shut out due to COVID-19, Murrumbidgee Turf Club (MTC) is bracing for it's biggest Wagga Gold Cup crowd in 10 years.
Hospitality packages have been sold out for six weeks, while less than 3000 general admission tickets remain with just a couple of days to go.
The capacity for this year's event is just under 10,000 and MTC chief executive Steve Keene believes they may get very close to a full house.
"We've already pre-sold and people have tickets for up to 7000 people on Cup day. We normally get between 7000-8000 so with good weather expected, it's shaping as a really big crowd," Keene said.
"It's exciting for the town. Everyone's really got behind it. We're expecting one of our biggest crowds in a very, very long time.
"It's great after very poor weather last year over the Cup carnival, we've been blessed this year with 24 degrees and fine weather, everything's set for a big day."

Keene encouraged people to get in early for their tickets with the possibility that it could be a sell out come race day.
"At this stage, the way tickets sales are going, I'd say there will be a limited amount left on the gate but we'll have to wait and see what the next 48 hours brings," he said.
"If you do buy them online, you do get them a little bit cheaper and potentially avoid any queueing on the day.
"You're helping yourself by getting them early. They get emailed to you and you can have them on your phone on the day. It's really simple and you also save a few dollars along the way."
The Gold Cup barrier draw will be held at the MTC Member's Lounge at 10am on Wednesday.
