Nikita Hare said the vehicle was left parked between Coolamon and Wagga along Coolamon Road last week after running out of petrol - a place she thought would be safe until the car could be towed.
"I needed to get my own car registered, so my partner, brother and I were taking dad's car from Ganmain back into Wagga, only it didn't have enough petrol so it got stuck halfway," she said.
"That was on Tuesday night, and the earliest I could get a trailer booked to move the car was for Sunday, yet when we went back then to grab it, my partner tried to start the car and it didn't work."
IN OTHER NEWS:
After a closer inspection under the bonnet, Miss Hare said they found a clean cut in the terminal connecting the battery, with the battery missing.
"They took the radio system too, and that didn't even work," she said.
"We thought we locked the car up, we even double checked it, but they still managed to get in."
While the crime didn't come as a huge loss to Miss Hare and her father, who said "the car was old and the battery needed replacing anyway", it was more about the principle.
"It's just a nuisance, we shouldn't have to be going through and replacing these things," she said.
"It's just a shame to see people doing this kind of thing to other people's property."
