The five clubs - Wagga, Wodonga, Walla, Albury and Young - came together for annual round robin tournament held in conjunction with World Croquet Day.
It was the all-female Young team that came out on top after a day of entertaining competition.
"It was a lovely day. It was great to have it back on after it was cancelled last year because of COVID," Wagga Croquet Club president Maureen Doig said.
"The competition between the five clubs has been going since 2012 and is always held in Wagga because it is central to everybody.
"Albury had won it two years ago but this year it was Young. They did have a good day and they were the only all-female team.
"Croquet it one of the only sports where men and women can compete on an equal basis."
Each association was represented by four players, two lots of pairs played in doubles.
The Wagga team finished about mid-table.
Doig said the University of the 3rd Age (U3A) runs croquet lessons each term for anyone interested in taking up the sport.
"It is a great way to get a taste of it, learn the skills and see whether you want to take it up," Doig said.
Any interested persons can contact Doig on 0439 587 878.
Meantime, the National Golf Croquet singles and doubles championships will be played this weekend at the Victorian Croquet Centre.
