The Bulls dominated crosstown rivals Kangaroos at Harris Park on Saturday as they strolled to a 38-8 win.
Besides a four-minute period leading into half-time, Southcity gave their in-form rivals no opportunities.
Captain-coach Nathan Rose was pleased with the fashion of the display but still wants to see improvement from the side.
"It was definitely a tough win," Rose said.
"We were good for the majority of the game but there were a couple of little areas we will need to rectify at training and work on going forward."
Cody Hodge, who scored his third hat-trick in as many games this season, started things off when crossed for his first after 14 minutes.
Kyle McCarthy then stepped through the Roos defence before Hodge added his second to hand Southcity an 18-0 lead after 25 minutes.
Daniel Foley was then denied a try before Kangaroos converted on their first attacking chance late in the first half.
It is one thing Rose is looking for the Bulls to improve on.
"It was 18-0 and then we gave away a couple of penalties so we had to defend three sets in a row which probably led to the try," he said.
"We were a bit panicky on our line, which is a credit to Roos for scoring the try."
Timoci Vatubuli went over the corner to get Kangaroos on the board with four minutes left in the half.
He then repeated the dose after Chris Maher was able to get a tight offload away with 12 seconds left in the half.
The double cut Southcity's lead to 18-8 at the break.
And while they may have given Kangaroos a sniff the Bulls soon firmly shut the door in the second half.
"It was a tough start to the second half but full credit to all the boys who kept turning up and worked hard for each other," Rose said.
The Bulls had all the ball to start the second half and Daniel Foley capitalised on it eight minutes into the break.
Latrell Siegwalt then stepped through the Roos defence before racing away to score with 27 to play.
Foley was denied another try but after another mistake, McCarthy extended Southcity's lead before Hodge completed his hat-trick with three minutes to play.
The centre will miss another big clash with Young after next week's general bye due to Country duties.
Rose is weighing up his options for a replacement for the May 16 clash at Alfred Oval.
"Young are obviously pretty strong and knocked off Roos last week and they've got some good players across the park," he said. "We will have to do our homework at training and hopefully go down there and go well."
Once again Southcity escaped without any serious injury concerns.
