Stina Constantine, who has lived in Australia for the best part of 20 years, faces deportation after an administrative error saw her denied a visa.
She is readying to take her fight to remain in Wagga to the Federal Circuit Court, and her friend Kelly Cross has started an online petition to support her cause.
"It's an opportunity for the community to voice their concerns and support for me," Ms Constantine said.
"During this time, I have had a lot of people approach me and ask about all sorts of things they could do to try and get further media attention as well if they could talk to people who are prominent in the local political space.

"I have asked them to hold off because I wanted to respect the process that was in place."
The office of Alex Hawke, minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, contacted Ms Constantine asking for more information about her case.
So, it was decided a petition and other supporting documentation would be a way to convince Mr Hawke to exercise his ministerial power.
"Now that the minister's office has asked for more information, we thought this might be a way for the community to say 'hey, we support Stina'," Ms Constantine said.
"Nothing has come of the legal route yet. I am still waiting for a court date."
Ms Constantine said the support from the community during this trying time was incredible. A GoFundMe page that was started to help her cover court costs surpassed its goal of $10,000.
"When I got the notification it had exceeded my goal, I was blown away," Ms Constantine said.
"I was able to pay off two invoices straight away. It lifted such a burden off of me.
"I am very grateful to the community for all they have done."
