The new-look Hawks will tackle Wagga United in an intriguing Pascoe Cup contest at Rawlings Park on Sunday.
Henwood Park, now coached by Michael Babic and Matt Menser, travelled to Griffith in the opening round where they went down 3-0 to Hanwood.
It was a tough initiation for the Hawks on the back of a short pre-season but Menser saw enough positives in the performance.
"It was promising," Menser said.
"They scored three goals in the first half. We got better as the game went on and that's always been the plan, really. It's been quite a short pre-season for us so we're not too disappointed to be honest. They've got a couple of pretty good players out there.
"The second half at 0-0 was good for us. We changed a few things at half-time and we probably haven't settled on what our best 11 looks like yet and probably won't for weeks to come. I'm not too disappointed. Just travelling over there first game is always hard."
Isaac Tancredi and David Tighe will return this week for Henwood Park.

"We had a couple that were away last time. They'll both come in this week and that will give us a bit more stability and build a bit more of a squad," Menser explained.
A focus for the Hawks over the past two weeks has been taking their chances. That's something Menser believes they will need to be better at against the Crows.
"We just probably need to finish some chances," he said.
"We probably had three or four really good chances against Hanwood and we didn't take them. We just can't afford to. If you're only going to get four or five in a game, you've got to at least put a couple in and we didn't."
Wagga United drew with Cootamundra 3-3 in the opening round. They, like the Hawks, have a completely different look this season and Menser is not sure what to expect.
"They drew that first game against Coota, I didn't see it so I don't really know what to expect," he said.
"They've probably got quite a different outfit and because they played Coota who haven't played for a couple of years, I don't really know how to read the result.
"They'll be how they normally are, they'll be physical, they'll be fit and it will be a tough game for us. I see it being, it could be a draw or one goal either way. It's not going to be a big scoreline."
