Reddies will mark their 50th anniversary with a special reunion this weekend.
Almost 250 former players, officials and supporters will be part of the celebrations.
Reunion committee chairman Matt Wilkinson is thrilled with the response from past players.
There has been plenty of name changes for the university club in the past five decades.
"It will be good to catch up with them and some of the people you played with," Wilkinson said.
"We're really looking forward to catching up with everyone as we've got people coming from 1972 to current day players.
"It's very exciting."
Ray Petts coached the then Riverina College of Advanced Education (RCAE) in their first season.
The club has also gone by Riverina Murray Institute of Higher Education, Rivcoll before their most recent adaptation as CSU where the focus has been on providing students a place to play rugby.
Traditionally drawing their stocks from the teaching course on campus, as the years have gone on the club has expanded their approach.
"Fifty years ago we met and there was a bit of anxiety because of the changeover from the old to the new with the name," Petts said.
"We were banded about as the Chalkies as there was always a great rivalry between Aggies and us."
Petts will be one of at least four members from the club's first season in attendance.
CSU will tackle premiers Wagga City in a showcase game at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday.
It's been their home for more than 30 years after making the switch from the South Campus Oval in the late 1980s.
It will be the club's 813rd game with their record currently standing at 401 wins, 15 draws and 397 losses.
The day will also feature a golden oldies game along with the second, third and women's games between the two Wagga clubs.
The main function will be held at the Wagga RSL Club on Saturday.
There is also a welcome back gathering at the Palm and Pawn Hotel on Friday.
