A KFC spokesperson has now confirmed the opening hours at the future Southcity site will be from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week.
"We're excited to be bringing the Colonel's famous Kentucky Fried Chicken to the locals of Wagga Wagga at South City Shopping Centre," the spokesperson said.
"While we won't be swinging open our doors for a while yet, when we do our customers will be able to enjoy our delicious chook during our trading hours from 10am to 10pm every day of the week."
EARLIER:
Earthworks have begun on the Southcity shopping centre site of what will be Wagga's newest KFC fast-food outlet.
The $1.5 million development has received the green light from Wagga City Council, paving the way for a KFC restaurant and drive-through at the corner of Pinaroo Drive and Tanda Place.
The Southcity outlet will be the fast-food giant's fourth Wagga store.
The development application initially proposed operating the outlet 24 hours a day, seven days a week, however, this was amended to 6am to midnight during the assessment process after concerns were raised.
Southcity Takeaway owner Kathryn Parker welcomed the news, saying she had a "the more the merrier" attitude after 15 years at the shopping centre.
"I'm sure it'll be happening before we know it. At the moment I'm a little concerned about the traffic and the driveways and how they're going to do it, with the driveways between us and Aldi it's already a bit congested," she said.

"But I'm sure they've got it all planned. I think it'll be good."
The KFC comes as part of the Southcity precinct's master plan, which includes two supermarkets, a fast-food outlet and a service station.
"A master plan was prepared for the precinct to rationalise future development of the land," the development application stated.
"The proposed development is consistent with the master plan and reflective of the subject sites current and future configuration including car park and internal road layout.
"The restaurant will offer a dine-in, take away and drive through services and include car parking for 36 vehicles including one space for disable persons vehicles."
The Southcity shopping centre operator declined to comment on the KFC at this stage.
The Daily Advertiser contacted Collins Foods, the operator of KFC in Australia, for comment.
EDITOR'S NOTE: This story originally stated the KFC store had been approved to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as proposed in the development application. This was incorrect. The operating hours were amended to 6am to midnight during the assessment process and a KFC spokesperson has since confirmed the opening hours will be from 10am to 10pm. The Daily Advertiser apologises for this error.
