The Demons have lodged a clearance for Beckmans to return from Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) club Monash Blues.
Beckmans spent five seasons at Crossroads Oval before his departure in 2018, winning two premierships and was named best-on-ground in the 2014 grand final win.
Beckmans is not expected to be available every week and the Demons are yet to decide how they will use the former Sydney Swans listed footballer.
"We're playing it by ear at the moment," Collingullie-GP coach Brett Somerville said.
"He's available for a few games but whether he will play first grade or second grade, we're not sure yet.
"He's keen to get back involved and if he's fit and flying, he'll obviously be very handy and a good first grade player.
"He's still based in Melbourne. We had some brief chats last year before COVID went down and obviously that derailed it. We'll wait and see but it should be good. He'll obviously help us."

He had to wait 12 months longer than expected but Somerville was able to enjoy his first win as Collingullie-GP coach last Saturday with a 33-point round one win over Griffith.
The sour note was losing assistant coach Daniel Frawley for three to four weeks with a hamstring injury.
Beckmans could shape as an immediate inclusion to face Coolamon at Kindra Park on Saturday, while Dereck Singe and Jackson Sanbrook among the others pushing for a spot.
Somerville expects the Hoppers to prove tough.
"It will be a tough match. They bat pretty deep," he said.
"They've got a fair bit of class in that forward line...and midfield...and backline!"
