The free concerts have changed day from Thursday to Tuesday, a move that had some fans upset but that the Conservatorium's director Hamish Tait says was made to allow them to livestream the performances for the first time.
"This year is a point of difference in that we are broadcasting all the concerts on a livestream event so we need to use the Civic Theatre on occasion and it's only available on Tuesdays," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The concert series has been running for 13 years but was placed on hiatus last year when public gatherings and live music were banned under COVID restrictions.
Mr Tait said the performers and organisers were delighted to be able to perform again after a tough year for musicians.
"The performers are very, very excited about trying to get back to a situation where they are actually working collaboratively with other musicians, it's very exciting for all of them," Mr Tait said. "There's a lot enthusiasm."
The free lunchtime concerts will start next Tuesday April 27 with a performance by Guitar and Friends at the Civic Theatre.
The performers this year will be community musicians, sourced from the Conservatorium's teaching staff, students and local artists, with COVID making the usual mix of local, metropolitan and international acts impossible to secure.
The full list of acts includes Mr Tait himself, Made in Australia, Beethoven and Brahms, Hannah-Grace and the Low Flyers, Frets and Flutes, Music Through the Times and the Australian Army Band Kapooka performing at either Civic Theatre of St Johns.
Performances will run every Tuesday from 1:10pm from April 27 - June 15.
Entrance is free or concert can be livestreamed via their event page here.
