Kate Webster first entered the Wagga Showgirl competition in 2017 and was unsuccessful. But, she entered a second time and took out the title.
After then competing in the zone finals, Miss Webster was due to head to the 2020 Sydney Royal Easter Show and then the pandemic hit.
But just last week, Miss Webster finally made it to the Sydney Royal Easter Show and took home the title of second runner-up at the Showgirl Competition.
"I grew as a person and exceeded even my own expectations," she said.
"I was such a shy person, and public speaking and networking were always daunting when you don't understand how to make connections.
"Even in that one week at the [Sydney Royal Easter] show, I progressed more than I could ever have dreamt."
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We work with other organisations to do research within the meat industry across the entire field, it's really from paddock to plate," she said.
"We develop training resources that the industry uses to upskill its employees.
"I started out my degree planning to work with livestock as an animal consultant, now I am on the other end of the chain."
Miss Webster grew up on a property in Orange, where her parents ran sheep and cattle as a side business.
She loved living on a farm and being outdoors, and that passion for the agricultural industry stayed with her.
Being involved with the Showgirl Competition meant meeting other like-minded women, and it's something Miss Webster is incredibly grateful for.
"I really am glad I did take that second opportunity," she said.
"I would really encourage others to apply. Give it a shot. You would be crazy not to."
