A 20-year-old Taiwanese man has undergone emergency surgery in the Riverina after being stabbed with a machete.

On April 11, two Taiwanese men allegedly became involved in an altercation at a Griffith address.
One man, aged 30, was invited to the address to play ping pong, while a 20-year-old man attended later to catch up with friends.
The 20-year-old man overhead comments made by the 30-year-old man and confronted him, before allegedly punching him.

The men were separated by their friends before the 30-year-old ran outside to retrieve a 50-centimetre machete from his vehicle.
The 30-year-old allegedly attempted to use the blade still in its sheath to intimidate the younger man, before the 20-year-old rushed at him with a ping pong bat.
The machete is believed to have punctured the sheath.
The 20-year-old was taken to Griffith Base Hospital with wounds to is head, neck and hands and was taken into emergency surgery. He remains in a stable condition.
The 30-year-old later presented himself to the Griffith police station and during an interview with officers made a number of admissions.
He was charged with reckless wounding and will face Griffith Local Court on April 15.
The machete was seized by police.
