Griffith police are searching for a man who allegedly dragged a taxi driver out of his vehicle before joyriding it out of town and dumping it more than 100 kilometres away.

At 1.30pm on Saturday, April 10, a taxi driver attended an address to pick up passenger as they visited a number of locations around Griffith.
Police say the 70-year-old driver then took the man five kilometres to an address in Beelbangera.

The man asked the driver to take him to Lake Cargelligo, the driver refused as the journey would be too long and expensive, and asked the man to leave the taxi.
After he exited the taxi the man went around to the driver's side door and dragged the driver from the vehicle.
The taxi was later located abandoned at Naradhan, between Lake Cargelligo and Rankin Springs, and was towed to be forensically examined.
The driver suffered abrasions and was taken to Griffith Base Hospital.
Police investigations are continuing.
