Luke Mathew Peake had been facing a single charge of possessing a prohibited drug over the 3.961 kilograms of "ice" secreted in candles.

But Albury Local Court heard on Monday that prosecutors, on taking another look at the case in the wake of Peake's not guilty plea, had filed a new charge.

Peake, who is in jail bail refused and did not front court, has been accused of supplying a prohibited drug at not less than a large commercial quantity.

This matches charges laid against alleged ringleader and disgraced Olympic swimmer Scott Miller and an associate who was in the car with Peake at the time.

Detectives with the NSW Police drug and firearms squad stopped the car at Cookardinia, between Henty and Holbrook, on January 13.

But the large commercial supply charge laid against Peake alleges this offence took place at Yass, between 7.30pm on January 12 and 12.10am the following day.

He was refused bail when he fronted the court two weeks ago on being charged with the possession matter, with magistrate Richard Funston citing the danger posed to the community by such a "large quantity" of methamphetamine.

Peake had an application for Supreme Court bail also mentioned on Monday, with a hearing set down for Sydney on April 26.

Prosecutor Sergeant Andrew Pike told magistrate Miranda Moody in the Local Court she could immediately order the serving of a prosecution brief.

"The brief's already in existence in relation to the co-offenders."

Peake's matter will be mentioned in Newtown Local Court on Tuesday.
