The Downside Bush Dance is finally returning after an extended hiatus due to the pandemic.
Member of the Tin Shed Rattlers, David Dunbar, said they had been flooded with messages from the public to bring the popular monthly event back.
"With the changes at the beginning of the month from the NSW government relating to dancing, we've been inundated with requests from the public wondering when the dance will get going again," he said.
"We have been keeping a close eye on the rules and it seems as though we can proceed as long we can do it in a COVID-Safe way.
"We are so excited."
Mr Dunbar said the dance was great for the community as it brings people together.
He said they are making a plan for the first Saturday in May, which will be subject to any changes from the government, but he added, they have high hopes.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It's been 14 months, this is the longest time in 50 years that the band has even been inactive," Mr Dunbar said.
"It has been very challenging for us to go from performing so much to almost nothing.
"We cannot wait to spread a little music and a little joy."
Mr Dunbar said they will have a COVID register, and dancers will need to bring their own food and drinks.
The next Downside Bush Dance is on Saturday, May 1 at Downside Hall from 7.30pm. Entry is $4 for adults and $1 for kids.
