A MAN who faced Wagga Court over charges of theft, drug and knife possession is just one of hundreds caught during the Easter police operation across the state's southern region.

Officers were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties along the Hume Highway at Coolac on Saturday afternoon when they detected a Subaru Liberty travelling at 128km/h in a 110km/h zone.
After stopping the car, officers spoke to the p-plate driver, a 41-year-old man, and his 33-year-old male passenger.
Police allegedly located a small bag of methamphetamine and an ice pipe during a subsequent search of the vehicle.

Further checks revealed the passenger was wanted by police over his alleged involvement in a pursuit using a stolen car from Queensland about 7am that day, before abandoning the car on Speedway Road at Goulburn.
The passenger was arrested and searched by officers, who allegedly located a pocketknife.
He was taken to Gundagai Police Station where he was charged with receive property stolen outside NSW, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), possess prohibited drug, and custody of knife in public place.
The 33-year-old was refused bail and appeared in Wagga Local Court where is was formally refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court on Tuesday.
The driver was subject to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result.
He was also was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station, where he was subjected to a secondary drug test, which also allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine.
The 41-year-old's licence was suspended and he was released pending further inquiries.
Police conducted a total of 23,634 breath tests over the long weekend operation, issuing 58 PCA charges, 63 restraint infringements, 26 mobile phone infringements, and most alarmingly, 1322 speed infringements.
There were two fatal crashes reported on the region's roads, costing four lives, and an additional 46 major crashes occurred, leaving 20 people injured.
