WAGGA swimming prospect Jamie Mooney will continue his preparations for the Olympic trials later this year at this week's Australian Age Championships on the Gold Coast.

The 16-year-old will enter Wednesday's 16 years 100m freestyle heats and final, the event he has already qualified to race in the trials at Adelaide in June, as the top seed with a personal best of 51.54.
Mooney clocked that time in the NSW Country Championships at Sydney in February, also a championship record.
He also hopes to post qualifying times in the 200m and 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley.

The Mater Dei Catholic College student will compete in all of those disciplines on the Gold Coast, as well as the 200m backstroke.
Five other Wagga Swimming Club members will compete at the championships including Chloe Donelan (14 years 200m individual medley, 100m and 200m backstroke), Trinity Cox (16 years 200m backstroke), Isaac Mooney (15 years, 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle) and Kade Knight (17 years 400m and 200m individual medley, 100m and 200m butterfly).
Ashley van Rijswijk was second-fastest in Monday afternoon's women's 100m breaststroke multi-class heats (1:17.88) and was due to compete in the final on Monday night.
She will also compete in the 50m freestyle, 200m individual medley, 50m breaststroke and 100m backstroke.
