FIREFIGHTERS have worked to extinguish a blaze near Ashmont on Sunday after a car was found alight.

The white utility was fully alight when firefighters were called to the scene just after midday on Edward Street West at Moorong.
A spokesperson from Turvey Park Fire and Rescue said an aerial pumper and tanker attended the scene to extinguish the blaze, but the vehicle was "totally destroyed" by flames.

Police also attended the incident, and are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
