The area has been closed to the public since the Dunns Road bushfire ravaged the region after it began in late December 2019.
But, salvage operations in state forests bordering the western foreshore was put on hold over the long weekend, allowing campers and other recreational users back in for the first time in almost 15 months.
The Daily Advertiser photographer headed out to the popular holiday spot to capture some of the action. Can you spot yourself in our gallery?
The area will close again and gates relocked at noon on Tuesday. Harvesting crews will return to work salvaging burnt pines in the steep slopes that morning.
"The area cannot be left open as we still have significant activity resuming after Easter, with log and gravel trucks constantly working in the area," Mr Anderson said.
