The area has been closed to the public since the Dunns Road bushfire ravaged the region after it began in late December 2019.
Salvage operations in state forests bordering the western foreshore will be put on hold over the long weekend, allowing campers and other recreational users back in for the first time in almost 15 months.
However, it will only be a limited area and for a limited amount of time, with access granted via Snubba Road and Yellowin Access Road via Batlow or Laurel Hill from noon on Thursday.

"The area we have made safe is limited to the camping area on Blowering Camp Road," Foresty Corporation's Snowy regional manager Dean Anderson said.
"All other areas of the western foreshore are still dangerous and remain closed.
"Forestry Corporation has two contractors working full-time in the area, except for the Easter break, on repairing roads and making silt dams safe."
The area will close again and gates relocked at noon on Tuesday. Harvesting crews will return to work salvaging burnt pines in the steep slopes that morning.
"The area cannot be left open as we still have significant activity resuming after Easter, with log and gravel trucks constantly working in the area," Mr Anderson said.
"For the safety of you and your family, and for the safety of those who may be asked to volunteer to rescue you, we ask that no one ventures past any signs or closed-off areas, as we still have significant risk from falling burnt trees and branches and washed out roads."
Campers will be required to self-notify or check in on the Forestry Corporation website, and maintain COVID health guidelines and social distance while in the area. There is no access from Talbingo due to the condition of the roads.
With no booking system, Mr Anderson urged users to work together with fellow visitors to share the space available.
