On Sunday, the airline added four return flights per week between Wagga and the Victorian capital.

All routes will be operated with the airline's 50-seat Q300 turboprop with upgraded cabin interiors.

QantasLink chief executive John Gissing, said the new routes reinforced the airline's commitment to regional Australia.

"As the national carrier, we have an important role to play in driving tourism and supporting the industry in its recovery from COVID-19," he said.

"We know Australians love to travel and these new flights couldn't come at a better time for Victorians after a difficult year.

"These three new routes will support the growing demand for travel that we're seeing and help deliver a boost for local businesses.

"The new routes flights will also offer locals from regional centres more choice and competitive fares to Melbourne on what were previously monopoly routes, with seamless onward connections to our large domestic network."

The incumbent airline on the Wagga to Melbourne route, Regional Express, has previously accused Qantas of "predatory" behaviour by running new services on a route where the number of passengers was struggling to support just one carrier.
