Watching houses float downstream, hearing locals talk about the loss of livelihood and knowing families have been evacuated, many have been wondering, "How can I help?".

Even Wagga firefighters and paramedics have headed up north to lend their aid.
While training for the SES does take three months, signing up now means being trained and ready for the next disaster.

"Some people have lost everything and will need ongoing accommodation. Those who are returning to flood-affected homes will need food, clothes, and other basic necessities to get them through the clean-up and beyond.
