Newly formed eight-piece group '33.3RPM' will play four shows over the weekend of April 10-11, playing songs off classic 70s records selected live by spinning a chocolate wheel.

The free concerts will be held at the Wollundry Amphitheatre, and emcee Neil Wright said it was an exciting event to be part of after a year to forget for creative industries.

"I'd love people to get their polyester shirts out and their flare trousers and come down to the amphitheatre, it'll be a great weekend," he said.

"Bring your kids down, introduce them to the music you've listened to all these years."

Creative producer and drummer Wayne Pigram said the eight musicians had come together for the first time for this series, and were a mix of Wagga's young and more experienced musicians.

Mr Pigram said the open-air space at the Wollundry Lagoon was a "beautiful venue," and he was hoping the crowd would be able to "get up and express themselves" at the shows with restrictions on singing and dancing easing.

The Wagga council is hosting the event as part of a state government push to support local musicians and bring back live music.

Community development officer Victoria Lowe said through a $10,000 grant, the council was able to look locally to employ the musicians, production company and other necessary businesses while making the event free for the community.

"We're also encouraging people to go to dinner, go to the pub before or after the event, it's all about injecting funds into our local economy," she said.

Free tickets can be booked through the Civic Theatre.
