The Wagga track was rated a heavy 10 on Tuesday afternoon after receiving about 80 millimetres over the last three days.

Despite this and boasting one of the best draining tracks in country racing, Keene has no concerns about Thursday's TAB meeting going ahead.

"It's a heavy 10 now...but the track dries out really well," Keene said.

"With no more rain between now and Thursday, I'd expect it would be somewhere between a soft seven and a heavy eight.

"The meeting definitely isn't in any doubt. We'll be right."

The meeting has lost it's feature race, the $25,000 MTC Country Cup (2000m) due to a lack of acceptances.

It means the meet will go ahead with just seven races.

"There wasn't enough acceptances. A number of the horses were dual nominated after the Goulburn meeting was transferred to Queanbeyan and was in doubt of going ahead," Keene explained.

"It's disappointing, but it's good to get good numbers in the two-year-old race. We have been well supported by Canberra trainers in the two-year-old again."

The club meantime is thrilled with how preparations are going for the Gold Cup carnival, with hospitality packages almost sold out.
