The Kincaid Street watering hole has been run by the Strattons for five years and went onto the market this year.
Sean O'Hara, Sam and Laura Cruickshank, the Laundy family and Wayne Podmore form the syndicate that will take over the hotel.
"We are due to settle on April 19, so just before Anzac Day and Gold Cup," Mr O'Hara said.
"It's a great pub ... the Strattons have done a great job with it.
IN OTHER NEWS:
For Mr O'Hara, this will be the fourth Wagga pub he has shares in. He said they would not have proactively approached the owners of Sporties, but when the business went up for sale, they decided to go for it.
"It's all timing," he said. "We like the site. We like that end of town.
"We will probably do a full refurbishment, [but] we like the outside of the hotel, the structure of the hotel."
Mr O'Hara said the new owners intend to keep all current events such as trivia as well as continue sponsorship agreements.
He added they would look to expand the gaming room that houses 14 machines.
Mr O'Hara said the renovation works would not be as extensive as what was done at the Turvey Park Hotel.
"Everything internal there has had a complete refit," he said. "Sporties, we are not sure it will be that intensive."
Mr O'Hara said the key is creating places that residents want to call their "local".
"It all starts at the front bar by looking after your locals there," he said.
"We are excited to welcome the patrons to Sporties."
Outgoing tenant and licensee Thomas Stratton said he has enjoyed running the pub for the last five years.
"More than doubling the hotel's value despite COVID was pleasing," he said.
"Highlights were hosting and raising $30,000 for Camp Quality as well as the $15,000 donated by the hotel in February last year following the fires. The locals and people of Wagga have been legendary."
